The defensive pressure they established the night before turned into total lockdown Saturday night against Dawson Community College.
The Gillette College women's basketball team held the Buccaneers to just 31 total points and rolled to its 14th win of the season with a 56-31 victory in Region IX action at CCHS South Campus.
Kenosha Wright, a 5-foot-10 freshman from Las Vegas, scored 10 of her game-high 20 points in the second half and the Pronghorns (14-9, 6-3 in Region IX) made it two in a row for the weekend with wins over Air Force Academy Prep and Dawson from Glendive, Mont.
"We disrupted Air Force last night and did the sane thing tonight. I don't know how many shot-clock violations they had, but we really controlled the flow of their game," Gillette coach Will Rider said. "We have to keep it going with a couple of tough games coming up on the road."
Dawson (3-14, 2-8) trailed by as much as 27 points and didn't break 30 until the final two minutes.
Iesha Greer finished with nine points and seven rebounds for Gillette. Jordan Scott-Benson, who left the game with a sprained ankle, ended with six points and five rebounds.
Scot-Benson has been dealing with an ankle issue for the past couple of weeks and it didn't do her any good when it got kicked with 3:41 left in the game.
The 6-foot sophomore from Aurora, Colo., went hard to the floor near the Pronghorn bench. She has been a major force in the paint since the holiday break.
Scott-Benson didn't get up off the floor during the timeout and ended up scooting from the floor from a seated position.
"She actually got it stepped on, so it was better than if she had rolled it again," Rider said. "We don't expect to have her miss any time."
