Elisha Hensey finally had the night she's been waiting for this season,
scoring 12 of her game-high 20 points in the first half, to lead the
Gillette College women's basketball team to a 88-46 victory Saturday
over Little Big Horn in Region IX action at Crow Agency, Mont.
Hensey, a 5-foot-7 sophomore from Las Vegas, Nev., had eight field
goals and went 4-of-6 from the free-throw line for her best scoring
night of the season. The Pronghorns, who improved to 10-7 and 3-1 in
Region IX.
Kenosha Wright continued to step up her game coming out of the holiday break.
Wright finished with 17 points. Iesha Greer had 14 points and Jordan
Scott-Benson, the 6-foot sophomore from Aurora, Colo., added 12.
Little Big Horn (2-10, 0-5) was led by Acacia Big Man. The 5-7 guard
from the Crow Reservation is averaging 16.6 points and 7.4 rebounds. She
had 14 against the Pronghorns.
Gillette led 46-23 at the half. Greer, Wright and Scott-Benson
dominated inside. Hensey found her shot from the outside and the
Pronghorns, who have 9 of their last 11 games, got back into the Region
IX win column after falling to Western Wyoming from Rock Springs at home
on Wednesday.
On the defensive end, Gillette held Little Big Horn to just 23 second-half points.
Gillette plays Central Wyoming (7-7, 0-4) in Riverton on Wednesday,
before an all-important home game with No. 6 Casper College Jan. 21 at
CCHA South Campus.
In other Region IX action, Casper College rolled past Northwest
College in Powell 66-57 to improve to 15-1 and 6-0 in Region IX.
Casper is currently in first place in the North Sub-Region.
Sheridan is second. Western Wyoming of Rock Springs is third and Gillette College is fourth.
