[Men's Basketball] Cougars Add Australian Big Man James Hunter

PULLMAN, Wash. - James Hunter (Sydney, Australia/Gillette College-Wyo.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete with the Washington State University men's basketball team beginning next season, head coach Ken Bone announced Wednesday.

"James is another addition that will bring much-needed height, size and experience to our program for the next three years," Bone said. "We're excited about the signing of James, and we look for him to contribute for us early in his Cougar career."

Gillette College Head Men's Basketball Coach Shawn Neary announces the signing of Dwight Anderson from Minneapolis Washburn High School.

Anderson is a 6'2 184 pound guard that averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists per game his senior season. He led the Washburn Millers to a 28-3 season record and to the Minnesota 3A State championship game. The Millers lost in overtime. Anderson was named to the 2012 Minnesota State Tournament All-Tournament Team for his efforts.

Point guard Matt Strickland from Gillette College in Wyoming has signed a letter of intent with the men's basketball program at Rocky Mountain College.

The 6-foot, 173-pound Strickland, who is from Inglewood, Calif., will join the Battlin' Bears in the fall.

He appeared in all 31 of Gillette's games last season, averaging eight points and three assists per game.

Cowboy Ezra Coleman of Gillette was raised on family values that taught him how to be a part of something greater than his personal desires.
The tattoo on his left shoulder is in memory of his aunt, Cathy Coleman, a long-time Wright horse trainer who lost her battle with breast cancer two years ago. His pink chaps support the search for the cure.

This weekend proved to be a good start for the Gillette College Rodeo team. The women's team, led by Megan Belus, won the rodeo by over 250 points. This puts the women's team in second place in the Central Rocky Mountain Region behind Central Wyoming College. Jordan Thurston won the goat tying, and Crystal Hershey, Marlys McGuire, and Tylee Coffman contributed points to the team.

Gillette College's women's basketball victory in the first round of the Region IX tournament Saturday was much more than just a historic accomplishment. The Pronghorns defeated McCook Community College 53-40 at Casper on Saturday afternoon, advancing to the second round of the tournament for the first time in college history.
