When All-American Nic Penning's eligibility ended with the Gillette College cross country team, he didn't leave the Pronghorns. Instead, he became the team's first assistant coach at age 20.
The Hulett native doesn't get an office or a paycheck. But Penning doesn't want those perks, either.
The sophomore is just satisfied to be a part of the team he loves. Penning does get something out of the deal, though.
